Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (MRTP) Act of 1966

I was Shocked to know that it is illegal to break the wall between two flats even though they belong to you.Apparently there is a Act in place  'MRTP ACT of 1966 ' which stands for Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (MRTP) Act of 1966 .If found guilty you can face crimainal charges.

The Problem is that there is a complete lack of Awareness among the general public. Many people do this on a regular basis, but if notified by any only the flat owner would face criminal charges.
If you are going to do any changes in your flat it is adviable to take the necessary permissions first.
